Two scientific and technological achievements of Yanchang Oilfield have reached the international advanced - level

Recently, after expert appraisal organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, two scientific and technological achievements of Yanchang Oilfield - "Innovation in Hydrocarbon Accumulation Theory and Exploration Discovery of Shale Oil in Gentle Shore of Large Depression Lake Basin" and "Key Technologies and Applications for Secondary Efficient Development in Open-Hole Zones of Shallow-ultrashallow Reservoirs in Ordos Basin" - have both reached the international advanced level.   It is understood that addressing the challenges of lacking hydrocarbon accumulation recognition guidance and difficult precise prediction of shale oil enrichment areas in the gentle shore shallow lake of Ordos Basin, the scientific research team of Yanchang Oilfield conducted in-depth studies on source rock distribution and parameter research, reservoirs, hydrocarbon accumulation mechanisms, etc., achieving three major breakthroughs. The first breakthrough: For the first time, the large-scale distributed Chang-7 high-quality source rocks were discovered in the gentle shore area of the eastern Ordos Basin, expanding the distribution range of Chang-7 source rocks eastward by 4,000 square kilometers, increasing hydrocarbon generation by 11.8 billion tons, and increasing resource volume by approximately 500 million tons. The second breakthrough: It was innovatively proposed that hydrocarbon generation pressure increase is an effective driving force for shale oil enrichment in the gentle shore of Ordos Basin lake basin, establishing the hydrocarbon accumulation model of "excellent source supply - residual pressure drive - excellent reservoir enrichment" for gentle shore shale oil. The third breakthrough: Supporting effective identification technology for shale oil sweet spots, with a cumulative proven reserve of over 46 million tons, 5 beneficial shale oil exploration areas built in the northeastern part of the Yanchang exploration area, and cumulative oil production of over 420,000 tons in the past three years, providing strong support for Yanchang Oilfield to maintain a continuous stable production of over 10 million tons per year.   As the only century-old brand in China's oil and gas industry, the eastern oil area of Yanchang Oilfield has been explored and developed for 120 years. Aiming at the problems of long-term single vertical well and primary oil recovery development methods and poor development effect in the shallow-ultrashallow open-hole zones of the eastern area, the scientific research team of Yanchang Oilfield introduced advanced technologies such as horizontal well collaborative volume fracturing, formed new technologies for identifying remaining oil in tight oil difficult-to-produce reservoirs, and innovatively proposed the secondary development model of "open-hole sealing + three-dimensional well pattern + volume fracturing + multi-mode energy supplementation", newly building a production capacity of more than 1.7 million tons in the shallow-ultrashallow tight oil reservoirs of Yanchang Oilfield, with the reserve recovery degree increased by 40%; using the combined well pattern reconstruction technology in the middle-late development stage of shallow-ultrashallow open-hole zones, the synchronous three-dimensional development of 4 sets of small layers in the Chang-6 formation of Yanchang was achieved; the process technology systems such as high-efficiency fracturing for shallow horizontal fracture reservoirs, time-sequence energy regulation, and intelligent oil recovery were pioneered, increasing the initial production capacity of horizontal wells by 2-3 times. From 2020 to 2024, this achievement has cumulatively increased oil production by over 1 million tons, improved the recovery rate by 5 percentage points, while saving 12,000 mu of land and 1.65 million cubic meters of water resources, achieving a double improvement in economic and ecological benefits.
